Controller for 8 Screens of 4x20 LCD + Keypad + GPIO    (Updateable Firmware)

Running in a Breadboard:

Basically, the CP-3220 (32 lines of 20 Characters) acts as a bi-directional, intelligent Buffer between the User/Operator of an LCD/Keypad and the Host. In doing so, the Host is free of all real-time demands. The 3220 also provides 2 PWM outputs and 5 I/O pins that can be used for Digital or Analogue Inputs, or Digital Outputs.

  • Stores 8 Screens of Data within the CP-3220 itself - they are transparently updated ‘at the convenience of the Host’
  • Local Buttons or a Keypad give the user on-demand access to those Screens without any involvement of the Host
  • For Keypad entry, the Host specifies an Input Box with limits. At the Host’s convenience, it checks for completion and collects the results
  • Bar Graphs accept raw data and complete all the Scaling according to the Host's spec.
  • Large Numeric Characters available
  • User loadable Firmware for Updates/Revisions

Notes:
 - Designed for use with 4x20 LCDs only
 - Kit1 Firmware cannot be Updated from the PC as is - the user needs to add the parts of Kit2, or transfer the Chip to another 28 pin AVR socket that has a PC serial connection.

Universal Breadboard PSU + Serial

An optional low cost but reliable USB Adapter is  available to complete the coverage for all situations. Becomes an integral part of the assembly. Included cable is USB at both ends. Supplied in the original packaging complete with Mini-CD.

The PS1 (Power/Serial) has very small Breadboard footprint, and can be used will all Microcontroller projects e.g. AVROs, PicAxe, KicChip etc. because of these features:
  • Jumper selectable TTL levels of True/Inverted from 232 Level Signals
  • Optional USB Adapter that becomes an integral part of the assembly
  • 5v regulation through a 1 Amp regulator
  • Move from one Project to another without disturbing any wiring
  • Fits 2.125" wide Breadboards and assembles to fit both in-line and offset power rails

Download Assembly PDF:

There is no direct wiring from the Breadboard into the assembly, so it can be readily moved from one Project to another without disturbing any wiring.
It is sold in Kit form and with the Surface Mount chip already mounted and tested. Requires a 9-12v AC Adapter with Centre +ve 2.1mm plug (most commonly used) similar to the example below.

$11.90 PS1 Components (requires soldering skills) including PCB with SM Chip already mounted - does not include the USB Adapter.

$17.90 PS1 Components (requires soldering skills) including PCB with SM Chip already mounted - Includes the USB Adapter.

Miscellaneous

$5.90 One 830 Point Breadboards 6.5" x 2.1"
Matches the Experimenter and PS1 assemblies. There are subtle differences between different manufacturers, the most obvious is the offset between power rails and the signal area.

$5.90 Compatible AC Adapter from CUI Inc.
For US 120 VAC, 5W, Output 200 mA at 9v DC. A good quality reliable device.
